It's a Boy!!!!
We had our ultrasound on Wednesday and found out that we are having a boy!!!! We are sooo excited to add a little boy to our family. We got to see all of his little body parts during the ultrasound. It was so amazing. We got to see the four little chambers of his heart. So far everything looks really good. He is a healthy little boy as far as we can tell. He was moving all over the place. I love the top picture because it seems like he is looking right at us. He is giving us a thumbs up in the bottom picture. He is already growing to be a big boy. He weighs 3/4 of a pound. They moved my due date up from August 17th to August 6th. The less days of being pregnant during the summer, the better:-) Now I get to start buying things for our little guy. I can't wait. Joel and I already love him so much. I can't even imagine what it is going to be like when we actually get to meet him. For right now I am enjoying feeling him move around.

15 Weeks
Baby's first shoes!!! I bought the baby his/her first pair of shoes last weekend. I saw them on clearance while I was at Target and I just couldn't pass them up. They were just to cute. We haven't really bought anything for the baby, so it was fun to do a little baby shopping:-)
I have reached my 2nd trimester. I have noticed some of my 1st trimester symptoms lessen, but they haven't gone completely. I don't seem to be as tired as I was early on. I am really enjoying having some of my energy back. I really need to start some kind of exercise routine now that I have some energy, and a very big appetite. I seem to be hungry all of the time, and almost everything sounds good to me. We are also working on getting our house baby ready. We are going to turn our study into the nursery. We also need to get the downstairs baby friendly. Joel and I had another Dr.'s appointment last week. Everything is still going really well. We heard the heartbeat again. They found it right away at this appointment. That is my favorite part of the appointments!!!! It is just so exciting to hear our little baby. I still haven't gained much weight yet. It has gone up and down for the last couple of months and as of now, I have gained a total of 5 pounds. I am still wearing my normal clothes, but they are getting tighter and tighter. I tried on a pair of maternity pants yesterday and they were sooooo comfortable. They aren't the most attractive pants, but they feel wonderful. I think I will be wearing those very soon. I am very happy that I wear scrubs at work because I have room to grow in those and they are comfortable. Well, that is the latest Nielsen News:-) We will continue to update as the baby and I continue to grow. We get to find out if it is a boy or girl in a few weeks. We are very excited to find out.

13 weeks
I am almost into my second trimester!!! It has gone by really fast so far. I'm still having all of the first trimester symptoms. I have had them the most this week so far. I'm really hoping that as my second trimester starts, they start to fade away. I am finally starting to show a little bit. So far I can still wear my normal clothes, but they are starting to get a little bit tight. It is nice that I wear scrubs to work, they will hopefully fit for a little while longer. I had a complete physical not very long ago. That was quite a process. I had a lot of blood drawn for tests at this time as well. I got the results back and everything is good. I also got to hear the heartbeat again at this appointment. The nurse practitioner said that it sounded strong and healthy. We have another appointment this week. After that we will only have them once a month for awhile. Everything is going really well so far.

2nd Dr.'s Visit- Hearing the Heartbeat
We had our 2nd Dr.'s visit on January 20th. I was at 10 weeks at this point. At this appointment they were going to listen for the baby's heartbeat. It was to early to hear it at our first appointment so we were really excited to hear it this time. We are working with a community program through the University of Arizona so we see a different resident at each of our appointments. The resident we saw at this appointment was very nice. She let us know that 10 weeks is the earliest that we would be able to hear the heartbeat and we might not hear it at this appointment. She said that it could take a long time to be able to hear it. We heard my heartbeat right away. It only took about 30 seconds and she found the baby's heartbeat. Joel and I were soooo excited. Joel's face lit up and he jumped down next to me and I could see how excited he was to listen to our baby for the first time. It was a great appointment. We can't wait to continue to hear and see our little baby!!

1st Dr.'s visit
The first Dr.'s visit that we had was pretty uneventful. We spend a loooong time filling out paperwork and health history forms for us and all of our family members. That took up most of the appointment. We did talk to the nurse practitioner briefly. She didn't recommend that we try and hear the heartbeat at this point because it would most likely be to early and she didn't want us to worry when we didn't hear it. They did draw some blood for a thyroid panel due to my hyperthyroidism. We got the results back about a week later and all is well. The nurse practitioner also gave me a prescription for zofran to help with the naseau that I have been having. We really liked all of the people that we saw today. We felt really good after the appointment and it was exciting to get things started.
